BGP Film buys ‘The Good Road’s North American rights
Selected as India’s official entry to the foreign language category of the 86th Academy Awards, filmmaker Gyan Correa’s The Good Road will now be released in the North America as New York-based BGP Film has picked up North American rights of the film at the Film Bazaar 2013.
Launched by former New Line executive Bill Straus, BGP Film is a sales agency focused on the North American market.
The film has been screened at the Film Bazaar, which is organized by National Film Development Corporation of India at the 44th International Film Festival of India, Goa.
The broadcast rights of The Good Road along with other Indian films such as Sulemani Keeda, Fandry and B.A. Pass have also been acquired by the UK Broadcaster Channel 4. The channel will screen them as part of the New Voices section within Channel 4’s Indian Film Season in 2014.
Gyan Correa’s The Good Road is a Gujarati-language road movie revolving around three groups of people traveling in the Rann of Kutch and is India’s submission for the Best Foreign Language Oscar.
Produced by India’s National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), The Good Road won an award for best Gujarati-language film at 60th National Film Awards in May this year.
