Bollywood actress Jiah Khan commits suicide
Actress Jiah Khan was found hanging in her Juhu flat, on early Tuesday morning. The exact reasons for the suicide are yet to be known, but sources say it could be depression and stress in personal life.
Jiah’s mother and sister had gone out and she was alone at the house when the incident happened, police said. They found her hanging when they returned at around 11 pm. According to the police her maid, watchman and neighbors are being interrogated to find out her last visitors.
Jiah was brought up in England and had shifted to Mumbai with her mother Rabiya. The 25-year-old actor made her acting debut in the controversial Nishabd by Ram Gopal Varma where she acted opposite Amitabh Bachchan. Upon its release in March 2007, the film received mixed reviews, but Jiah was noted for her confidence, attitude, and sex appeal. She also got a Filmfare Best Debutant Nomination.
She then appeared alongside Aamir Khan in A.R. Murugadoss’ Ghajini (2008), the Hindi remake of the director’s Tamil film of the same name.
Later she appeared as a supporting actor in Sajid Khan’s multi starrer comedy Housefull (2010). This was her last film. She has been missing in action since then.
A few years back the actress had reportedly changed her name to Nafisa Khan.
The actress had also tweeted about her sabbatical some time back, “So sorry I have been off twitter! Took a bit of a break from twitter verse.. sometimes u need a sabbatical to recollect ur thoughts.”
Expressing shock over her demise Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “WHAT …!!! Jiah Khan ??? what has happened ? is this correct ? unbelievable !!!”
