Locarno Film Festival 2013 Invites Global Entries
Locarno film festival recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers’ Associations (FIAPF) is a major film festival, founded in 1946. Online entries for the 66th edition of this international competition are open now and deadline for submission is declared as June 3, 2013. The festival will happen in Locarno in the month of August from 7 to 17th. The entry fee is set as 100 CHF for films exceeding 40 min. in length and 30 CHF for short and medium length films i.e. duration less than 40 min.
The festival has a competition section entitled ‘Filmmakers of the Present Competition’ that is exclusively reserved for ﬁrst and second full-length feature films made for theatrical distribution over 60 minutes in duration. This section includes selection of ﬁlms from international peripheries, ranging from documentary to ﬁction and also the most hybrid and contemporary forms of cinematic initiatives.
Another competitive section called ‘Leopards of Tomorrow’ caters to short and medium-length ﬁlms not more than 40 minutes in length by young ﬁlmmakers who have not yet debuted with feature-length ﬁlms. This section is specially reserved for student and graduation ﬁlms and the very first cinematic attempts from budding talents. The films selected in the competition must fulfill following two criteria for eligibility:
- Production of selected ﬁlms must have been completed within the twelve months preceding their festival presentation.
- Selected films must not have been earlier released outside their country of origin nor have been shown in any other international ﬁlm festival prior to their screening at the Festival del ﬁlm Locarno.
