From the TVF stable, creators of the most compelling web content in India, the Girliyapa Team, makers of the critically acclaimed “How i Raped Your Mother” and “The Period Song”, comes yet another witty look at women and gender dynamics in India.

Mom Wars, starring Sumukhi Suresh and Sarika Singh, puts the Girliyapa gaze on mothers competing about “whose son is better” and, in typical Girliyapa style, takes this one upmanship to absurd heights.

Devanshi Shah, writer of Mom Wars says – “As girls, we’ve constantly observed this “mera beta” battle, either with our siblings, our friends or in media. Isn’t it funny how the cliche has mothers comparing their sons and conveniently forgetting daughters? That strange dichotomy was the inspiration for this piece.”

Tracy D’Souza, Channel Head of Girliyapa added – “At Girliyapa we want to look at the world through a uniquely skewed feminine eye. From Marital Rape to Periods, from ogling men to fighting mothers, we always want to have our own unique voice in addressing the life of women through the eyes of women.”

With its last 4 videos going viral, Girliyapa has quickly grown into one of the largest woman-oriented YouTube channels in the country, with nearly 110,000 subscribers. “And we’ve only just begun!”, laughs Tracy, “Why should boys have all the fun?”

Launched in March this year, Girliyapa has been creating entertaining and engaging videos exclusively for girls and women. The team creates liberal content – content that tells stories & experiences about women, by women in an entertaining and engaging way. The first presentation by the Girliyapa team of girls launched around International Women’s Day on March 7, 2016 addressed this issue through their popular #The Period Song which already became an online sensation instantly! The Girliyapa team took a popular party track and turned it into a ‘period’ Anthem! Periods are now a cool thing ! The video featured celebrities and social influencers like Sandhya Mridul, Rukhsar Rehman, Pavleen Gujral, Rajshri Deshpande, lead actors from Permanent Roommates – Sumeet Vyas and Nidhi Singh, lead actors from Pitchers – Naveen Kasturia and Maanvi Gagroo, one of the most loved internet couples – Jitendra Kumar and Akanksha Thakur, vlogger – Santushi Shetty, stand up comedian Sumukhi Suresh and other YouTubers like Rickshwali etc.

In their second video presentation – Why should Hot Girls have all the fun? the Girliyapa team showcased the exact opposite! Where stereotypically, not so hot women, confront a guy who is staring at their hot friend and explain logically why he should look at them instead. The hilarious video presentation starred Mallika Dua and Srishti Shrivastava and was written by Shruti Madan from the Girliyapa team.
