Bharat Store, a Kannada movie directed by P Sheshadri , has made it to the list of 26 movies to be screened at the Indian Panorama section of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI). The festival begins in Goa next month .

The movie , which highlights how globalization has resulted in the mushrooming of malls leading to the closure of petty shops , had bagged the national award for the Best Regional Film inKannada. Senior artiste HG Dattatreya (Dattanna ) won a special mention for his performance as a shopkeeper (Govinda Shetty ) in the film . He had also bagged the Best Actor award at the Fiji International Film Festival last month . Bharat Stores has been produced by Basanth Kumar Patil .

The Centre’s decision to allow Foreign Direct Investment inspired Sheshadri to direct Bharat Stores . “The film traces the life of a petty shop owner . It only highlights the pros and cons of FDI, without passing any judgment ,” he said .

The jury selected 25 films from a total of 210 eligible entries . They include Baga Beach, The Coffee Maker, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Ship of Thesus. Pan Singh Tomar directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia has made it to the list through direct entry .
