IFFI 2015 giving edge to filmmaking with masterclasses by Hollywood experts
The 46th International Film Festival of India has become a learning platform for film enthusiasts as the festival is hosting a world-class line up of international film experts. The Academy members, Hollywood experts are taking masterclasses on various aspects of films and filmmaking and imparting the film knowledge to aspiring and established filmmakers.
The masterclass on Film Conversation & Restoration with Milt Shefter created a buzz at the festival and attracted large audience. He is an associate member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC), and directs and narrates their annual awards show. He is also a member of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).
He said, “Today there are considerable financial incentives for preserving motion pictures and television programs and we have an obligation to restore and preserve aging films, not just commercial titles, for future generations. Film reports are important for cinema as they help in better preservation of the cinema reels through digital technology. India does not need digital preservation as reels are more long-lasting than digital and guarantees more preservation space than digital. Personally I prefer the nitrate print of Casablanca than the new version since the old print has a more intense print. It is a great opportunity to get involved with audience at IFFI and interact with industry people.”
The film festival which will be concluding on 30th November is organizing masterclasses on different topics like sound designing, casting with Academy members and international experts.
